Trail Magic Moments: 1

Today was freezing. It started off rather warm but a huge, quick temperature drop of over 20° in a few minutes changed things right away.

More fog and rain, plus even some sleet for a while made things very slow and slippery, but there was still some much needed magic!  After breaking camp and setting  up just off the trail, I came across an intersection manned by Fresh Grind, he had fresh water, fruit, coffee, kool-aid and to top it all off…FRESHLY MADE PANCAKES!!!! That gave me some much needed energy to trek on.  Man, people are just amazing.  Stuff like this never makes the 9 o’clock news.

I also came across a south bounder that started up in Maine and will summit Springer tomorrow, finishing his hike. Crazy!  That seems so far away for me, but it’ll get here before I know it.  For now,  I’m resting in my sleeping bag trying to get warm.

Hope everyone is having a great day!  I’d love to hear what you’re all up to!

  1. So happy you got some much needed “real” food. Can’t wait til you get out of Georgia already. Been watching your progress every day. Nothing much happening here, just working. Maria is going to give me info on where and when I can send you a package. Missing you everyday but your girl keeps me posted. Love you and stay safe. xoxoxo

    1. Yeah, I’m assuming he started in September or early October since Katahdin is closed after mid October so hopefully he was pretty far south by the time the winter really started getting bad.

  2. I’ m glad to hear you’re having so many positive encounters, the pancakes must have tasted better than any you have ever had. We are all cheering you on!
