Police Station on the way to Hierve el Agua

After leaving Overland Oasis we were trying to head towards a lake (don’t remember the name), but because of road work, we ended up at Hierve el Agua.

We did about 5 hours of driving trying to find our way and ended up heading back to a destination that was only about a half hour from where we started…not a good driving day but we were rewarded with this place.

So really, we can’t be too mad.

We were able to camp there, and since most tour buses left at five, we had the place pretty much to ourselves, after five and before 10am.

This place is beautiful!

We parked right up against the edge of the cliff and had a bonfire.

We were both in heaven!

The next morning, I went hiking to the petrified waterfall and Maria stayed behind and swam in the pool.

It’s hard to pull Maria away from water, she can literally swim for hours.

I cannot recommend this place enough! For about seven dollars, you get to stay in this beautiful place over night and enjoy the natural infinity pools for two days, one night. Pretty good deal.
